Instead of labelling this item “Join a Book Club” I’d decided to leave it a bit more open-ended. Whether it was sitting around unpacking an academic text or chatting about a juicy piece of fiction, I really missed the experience of digging into a text with a group.
Starting The Self-Love Book Club has been an amazing experience. Each month I get to connect with a group of people from all over the world who are all on similar journeys of self-love and discovery as we read a new book together. But it lacks the feeling of a live, dynamic conversation that moves quickly from one place to another as people learn and share and grow.
When I received Danielle LaPorte’s e-mail about The World’s Biggest Book Club, I knew I had my chance. I had planned to pick up The Desire Map as soon as it was released and working through the process of uncovering my core desired feelings and considering the big questions the book poses seemed like the perfect thing to go through with a group.
I’m sure that joining of any of the London clubs would have been an amazing experience, but if I believed in fate, I’d have to think that fate pulled me to Jayne Rusby‘s book club.
We’ve become so much more than a book club. This is one incredible, gorgeous girl gang.
Since that first meeting in early January we quickly became at ease with one another and formed tight bonds as we shared tears and so much laughter while working through The Desire Map process.
And even though our 6 weeks with the book have come to an end, we’ll still be meeting each week and man oh man, do we have some exciting plans for the future!
So, thank you, Danielle. Thank you, birthday list. And thank you, my badass book club babes. You’ve all become such inspirations to me and it’s amazing to have found you in this big, crazy city that I now call home.
I was gonna say, I spy a Jayne!
I have been wanting to join a book club for ages, this post definitely makes me wish I have the time for it right now! But I feel I must accomplish this by the end of the year!
Always enjoy reading your blog, especially on these drab monday mornings!
