Liberation & Love in London.

urban-retreat2Hearts bursting open.

Tears flowing.

Dancing wildly.

Connecting deeply.

Nourishing fully.

Expressing freely.

This was the experience of Saturday’s Liberation & Love Urban Retreat. It was truly a deep dive out of the head and into the heart.

And babes, let me tell you, it was transformative.

urban-retreat1Jayne had just came back from two months in Costa Rica and was able to share so many lessons, remedies, and rituals that she’d learned during her travels. It was an intimate, exclusive event, which allowed us to go so much further with this work than ever before.

There were raw cacao elixirs. Embracing of the dark of the light. Uninhibited sharing and intimate healing. There were rose petals and grounding foods and homemade chocolate. Laughter and tears and new friendships. There was dancing and yoga and deep, deep relaxation. And of course there was a glittery goodie bag, filled with treats from our wonderful sponsors: Nikki Strange, Sparkle Child London, Indigo Herbs, Ombar Chocolate, Napiers, Teapigs, and Signature Fragrances.

I came away with the a strong understanding that we crave this. We crave time in the circle with other women. We long for open and honest conversations. We want to be together creating deep connections.

Workshops and retreats are a great way to facilitate and create space for this and take things to an intimate place more quickly than in every day life. But it shouldn’t stop there.

urban-retreat3 We need our sisters and we need to create spaces to connect with them. Blogging is a great way to find your tribe and make friends all over the world, but there’s something so important about tangible, face-to-face interactions.

Personally I’ve felt called to organise monthly, lady date brunches with my girl gang and I can’t stop thinking about other ways to bring the circle into my everyday.

Coffee dates. Mastermind groups. Skype calls. Dance parties. Book clubs. Sleepovers.

Regularity and consistency is key. Make it a ritual. Give it a purpose. Keep it fun.

When we allow ourselves to be raw and real with each other, we all heal and expand and grow.

I really hope to see you at one of my future events but if you’re on the other side of the world or it’s just not your cup of tea, reach out to the women in your life. We all want this. Be the one to alight the spark.

Calibrating Your Internal Compass.

invisible-wingsIf there’s one thing I took away from Saturday’s Liberation and Love Urban Retreat it’s that we know.

We know what we need.

We know what we want.

We know what to do next.

We know what’s right and what’s best for us.

But if we know, why has being “lost” become an epidemic?

Because we all have so much crap sitting on our internal compass that it could never stay calibrated. There’s other people’s expectations and the things we think we should be doing and the fears and the doubts and the things from the past that we’ve been dragging into our present. It’s all weighing down on us and creating fog and clutter so that we’ve become disconnected from that deep inner knowing.

Being with so many amazing women on Saturday made it clear that we can all recalibrate our internal compass and find that true north. Here are a few simple places to start.

Move your body. Moving wildly and freely gets us out of our heads and into our hearts. This is why I love qoya. It’s a practice in feeling our truth in our bodies. In trusting that we already know and creating a structure for connecting with it. You might have another form of movement that brings you this kind of serenity but if you’re still searching for one, I highly recommend visiting Rochelle’s site and signing up for the free “10 Days to Love Qoya” mini course.

Sit in stillness. Whether it’s a a formal meditation practice or just the daily ritual of walking somewhere without any music or electronic devices distracting you, find ways to connect with the present moment. Don’t focus on trying to force all thoughts out of your mind, just notice what you’re thinking without attachment. Our thoughts don’t have to take us anywhere. When we allow our minds to be still, we make room for our intuition to be heard.

Give yourself space to dream. We can’t create a life we love until we know what that looks like. So often we’re caught up in chasing the things we’re supposed to want or used to want, instead of connecting with what truly lights us up – the dreams that are based on our strongest values and deepest yearnings.

TitlePage-smallAppropriately, I’ve been working on a gift for you that I hope will give you clarity on your heart’s deepest wishes and bring you into alignment with the person you want to become.

It’s called Define Your Dreams and it’s a 30-page workbook for getting clear on what you really want so that you can create a life you love.

I hope you love it.

Judgment Day.

judgment-day1How often do we hold ourselves back because we’re afraid of how other people will react?

We don’t get the tattoo we’ve been dreaming about for years.

We don’t wear the flouncy dresses or glittery headbands we really love.

We don’t sign up for online dating.

We don’t say what we really mean.

We don’t change directions even when we feel stuck.

We don’t talk to that exciting person across the room.

We don’t publish that blog post.

We don’t take a chance.

We don’t make the leap.

Don’t. Don’t. Don’t.

We hold ourselves back because we’re terrified of being judged.

But the thing is, remaining paralyzed doesn’t stop us from being judged.

And maybe judgment isn’t such a bad thing after all.

When we focus on pleasing everyone, we practically make ourselves invisible.

We become bland and beige. And perhaps we’ll never offend someone, but we’ll never achieve greatness, inspire others, or change the world either.

judgment-day2Think about the people you most admire.

I’m willing to bet that, in the face of judgment, fear, & self-doubt, they took a chance on their wild dreams and created the world they wanted to live in.

People look up to them not because they hid from criticism but because they stood up boldly in the face of it.

I used to feel too shy to wear the things I really liked. But now I’m comfortable in sequins as daywear, tutus at the office, and bunny ears at breakfast. Sure I get a few dirty looks, but I also inspire a lot of smiles and have been blessed with many amazing conversations that started because someone wanted to tell me they liked my bedazzled outfit.

Similarly, as I’ve begin to step into my passions and speak proudly about the things that light me up, I’ve connected with so many people who are on the same journeys and from others who say I’ve inspired them to take more chances and love themselves more fully. How cool is that?

Being controversial, raising eyebrows, and even being on the receiving end of scorn means you’re doing something worth noticing. Not everyone will like you, but your tribe will get it. And they’ll love you for it.

So what can you do to be a little bit bolder – a little more you – today?

I’ll be here cheering you on!
